“ROAMING” Lands in Prague
After touring extensively throughout Italy, Paris, Berlin and Nova Gorica, ROAMING arrives for its first time in Prague. Saturday, 8th May 2010 for three hours the exhibition will go “occupy” the empty rooms of 20 brand new loft in the heart of the capital czech, in collaboration with Westone RE and Charta Bureau. At the core of the project Roaming there is the constant necessity of a auto-negation. The work and the image, the permanence and the fleeting, the presence and absence. So, in more than two years of work and more than ten exhibitions realised, an axis of continuous and systematic falsification has characterized the research. This dichotomy is a sort of analytical method that has allowed to Roaming to develop specific aesthetic and phenomenological questions concerning the nature of the artwork and the relation to its media and cultural diffusion. The project Transition. A private matter is located within this frame. Proposed to city of Prague and, in particular, to a space, that still differently connotated, in which go to operate on. In fact the exhibition takes place in a not yet inhabited building, in a just finished construction site: a hybrid place, without a specific identity and therefore open to any possibile meaning. This has been the best chance to propose a new idea, based again on a contraddiction, related to the concept of taking home (this will be the future destination of the building: a series of apartments), getting a place and definying the identity, but for an ephemeral and insignificant period of time. The question that is arised to curators, artists and public, to reception, mediation and production of meaning, and then of art, is the dimension of the identity. Intended as private that becomes public, as personal and secret story whose traces are left to the interpretation of the one who finds them or is able to read them, within a collective dynamics (a mechanism) able to stimulate a comparison with the concept of border, presence and absence. In this way we move to a sort of disorientation, an ambiguity, typical of the pornography of the private, able to think about what is possibile (physically and, in a metaforic way, culturally), to see by asking critical questions relate to the intimity and the identity.
