City Visions Europe
[deadline: 18/02/2009 - h. 17]
The Berlage Institute–Centre for Architectural Research and Development, in collaboration with the Centre for Central European Architecture, the Flemish Architecture Institute, MMMechelen, and arc en rêve–centre d’architecture, invite architecture practices to submit their candidacy for participation in the two-year European exchange program entitled City Visions Europe. This design-research program offers the framework to develop, present, and debate speculative architectural projects and ideas for the future of Bordeaux, France; Kosice, Slovakia; Mechelen, Beligum; and Pilsen, Czech Republic. Eight architecture practices will be selected to concretely address the challenges of two of the four represented cities iby developing large-scale architectural projects. Each of the projects will provide the basis for a dialogue between architects, policy makers, experts and citizens on the future urban development of each of the cities as well as on the European city in general. A series of conferences and seminars will be held in each of the four cities. Participants will include the eight selected architecture practices, representatives from local municipalities, and internationally renowned architectural and urban experts. The eight selected architecture practices will be invited to present their contribution to City Visions Europe, along with their portfolio of work, in a series of public lectures, exhibitions, and publications in Bordeaux, Kosice, Mechelen and Pilsen.
