Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto non-profit organization founded in 1999, in Northern Italy, runs a residency on its premises, the UNIDEE in Residence International Programme. The aspiration is to inspire young people from around the world to build a responsible change in society by means of a residence programme where they activate projects that interact within a social context. During UNIDEE, the residents work on developing their proposed projects and actively participate in meetings and seminars held by representatives of the offices of Cittadellarte. The offices work on bridging art and society with the help of experts in various fields: artists, professors, entrepreneurs, and researchers. Events at Cittadellarte such as exhibitions, conferences, performances, and workshops represent an integral part of the time at UNIDEE. During UNIDEE 2009 two major focal points of the programme are: - Conceptualization, development, and discussion for the activation of a project of responsible social transformation that would go on to become your own “Cittadellarte”. During UNIDEE the residents will have the possibility to concentrate on their idea, discuss their projects, receive feedback, establish contacts, and encounter experts and artists who work in similar ways. At the end of the four months there will be a public presentation entitled, UNIDEE in Progress, displaying the development of the projects | - The Collective Experience of elaboration, development, and realization of projects in the midst of the events in Biella. The residents will have the possibility to work together for the preparation and realization of an experimental event and share their conceptual and operational capacity. The project will be discussed and developed during the four months and proposed to the public at the end of the residency | - Particularly important to UNIDEE is the collective dimension. This involves direct and constant engagement between residents, collaboration on projects, or simply less formal encounters that are decisive for experimentation in communal projects | Art and creativity have a fundamental role and act as an impulse in the planning of actions for a social responsible transformation of society. The active interaction and continuity between artists, professionals, managers, researchers, and social advocates puts into motion an energy that is inclined to produce tangible signs of change and innovation.
