FUTURE supports young scientists for the research on the European City and enables them to participate in a training programme including a workshop, online training, an international conference and the possibility of publishing a paper. Topic of the training programme 2008 is “The Ethnically Diverse City”. The project aims at the integration of different disciplines relevant for the topic and also at internationality. Cities are the most relevant places to observe, understand and influence changes in all fields of economy and society. Most inhabitants in the European Union are living in urban areas. FUTURE therefore supports the research competencies, networks and human potentials to meet the future challenges in the cities of Europe. The main objective of is to continue and bring forward the existing research on different features of urban life in Europe. To achieve this aim supports young scientists in undertaking research on the European City and enables them to participate in a training programme for their chosen annual issue. As a result there shall be established a substantial and sustainable network between the young researchers from different nations as well as a network between the young and the senior scientists.
